The salmon fishing is plentiful all along the Kenai Peninsula. It used to be you'd have to wait for high tide in most places to launch your boat. But now, you can hire these tractors to put you in and take you out whenever you so desire.
On Weds, July 18th I met up with my friend and RV sister Sue from Texas. She flew up to visit her friends Janet and Lester, who graciously invited me to park my rig in their drive while we explored Homer together. We started off on the Homer Spit for pizza and beer for supper. My kinda people! :)
Sue at the infamous Salty Dawg Saloon.
It is unique because the walls and ceiling are wall papered with autographed $1.00 bills.
The spit is beautiful. Just a strip of land in the middle of the water.
With plenty of sealife.
And the marina at sunset.
On Thursday, our friend and RV sister Nancy (Birdie) arrived to join us to experience the area. She is summering up here too in her rig.
We went back out on the spit for lunch and I got my king crab legs! :)
followed by a tour of the Bear Creek Winery. We sampled and bought our favorites :) Birdie and Sue smiling :)
Thursday night, we joined Don and Vanessa, more friends of Sue's in Ninilchik for a seafood fest of halibut and salmon! Don and Vanessa are from the North Pole, AK and are down here for the fishing/clamming season. They winter at Sue's RV Park in the Rio Grand Valley in Texas.
Great food, great friends, great fun! :)
Great post. Glad to see you, Sue, and Birdie all there together having fun.
